When I think of Rembrandt, I think about his striking and wonderfully painted self-portraits. Now that I am in a printmaking class, I am taking a closer look at Rembrandt's etchings, and beginning to appreciate them more. The subject matter is mostly the same, portraits and self-portraits, and the level of detail is still on par with the magnificent quality of his paintings. Personally, I enjoy works in color, but I can appreciate the skill and aesthetic elements of his prints, from the expression of the portraits subject, to the composition as a whole.
